message from the president
Greetings!
On behalf of the members of the Filipino American Institute of Accountant (FAIA), I wish to offer you a warm welcome to our cyber home. This website is where we inform, share, and communicate our events and ideas. It is very new. Thanks to the efforts of my predecessor, Alan Trapal, CPA, who worked tirelessly to make this website a reality. As the current president, my goal is to continue to expand upon the vision of FAIA as encapsulated in the theme -- "Expanding Horizons Through Education."
By this summer, we plan to be accredited by the National Association of State Board of Accountancy (NASBA) as a Continuing professional education (CPE) provider. Then, in late August, our chapter will host the 2008 National Convention of NCPACA, the national organization of Filipino accountants in the U.S. and Canada.
It is at this Convention and in regularly scheduled seminars throughout the year that FAIA will showcase what are conceivably the most interesting and relevant CPE educational sessions in the United States that address cutting-edge issues by some of the leading experts in their fields. We welcome and encourage not only accounting, legal and financial service professionals to attend our seminars, but the general public as well.
FAIA is an organization that actively participates in the affairs of our community. We share our time and talent with the Philippine American Foundation for Charities (PAFC) of Metro D.C. through our involvement in their activities. We offer pro bono tax services to our senior citizens, and we continue to host informative seminars to the business and non-profit sectors that are open to everyone.
All of 2008 promises to be a busy one for FAIA. This is a year of challenge to each and every individual in America as our nation goes through turbulent economic times. FAIA believes that through education, the nation as a whole can be more innovative and maintain its prominence as the premier economic engine of the world.
Bearing this in mind, we shall endeavor to make this website a haven for education that works for the benefit of everyone. We look forward to greater strides as the year progresses. We welcome comments and suggestion.
